We are a group of law students and graduates from several refugee law clinics in Germany. We founded rlc abroad in order to provide legal information to refugees currently staying in camps in other European countries.
The first project we undertook is to provide legal information to refugees on the Greek island of Chios.
We believe in empowerment through information. Our approach is to give people the information they need to make informed decisions and plan their lives.
We think that any work in the field of legal aid requires cooperation with national lawyers and actors already present. Thus in Chios, we will work with Greek asylum lawyers and legal aid NGOs present on the island.
All our legal volunteers have a sound background in EU and national asylum law as well as experience with the provision of legal information to refugees. Most of our legal volunteers are experienced members of refugee law clinics and some are fully qualified lawyers. We are supported by practicing migration lawyers.
